Governing by Distraction

A former Chretien communications director lends a sneak peek into how things were done back in the Little Guy from Shawinigan days (via Wudrick):

But the Prime Minister's invisibility means the Conservatives have missed an opportunity to diffuse and deflect, he said. "The best thing to do is change the channel. And therefore I think it would make sense for them to rush some kind of initiative out the door instead, as opposed to sitting on something for another three or four weeks."

Geez, with brains like that behind the throne, is it any surprise that so many brilliant schemes came out during the Chretien era?
