PFP: Not appropriate at present for Soong to visit mainland
CCP Central Taiwan Affairs Committee Chairman Chen Yunlin, in an interview with Taiwanese television on 1 April, invited PFP chairman James Soong by name to visit the mainland. The PFP caucus responded yesterday, saying that it is not appropriate for Soong to visit the mainland at this time, and the PFP centre has given a press release stating “no comment at present.” However, reports say that with the KMT having taken the initiative, the PFP is privately negotiating through the three channels of academia, the entrepreneur community, and the PLA to try to organize a meeting between Soong and Hu Jintao.
Responding to Chen's invitation for Soong to visit the mainland, PFP caucus whip Chen Chih-bin said yesterday it was “not appropriate at present.” He says that once the Cross-Strait Peace Advancement Act introduced by the PFP passes the Legislative Yuan, it would be more appropriate for Soong to visit the mainland with the appropriate legal rationale.

Soong organizing group to visit mainland in mid-April
PFP chairman James Soong has confirmed that he will be organizing an agricultural exchange group to visit the mainland in the middle of this month.
After attending a public memorial ceremony, Soong emphasized that the agricultural tour group will not represent the government, and is not intended to open government-sanctioned negotiations. However, before leaving, the group will meet with the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC), the Council of Agriculture (COA), and other relevant bodies, hoping to act as an intermediary to help promote the rights of Taiwanese farmers.
