The Sad Decline of Spoken Chinese
My dad once said that I don't know enough Chinese (specifically, written Chinese) to have a career in Hong Kong. I suppose he might still be right on the written part, but there should be no problems verbally, if things like this and this are a common occurence. Heck, I'm probably better than these people, because the fact that I live overseas forces me into a mentality to try to use as little interspersed English in my Chinese as possible.
(If you and your computer can't read Chinese, you're not going to understand the links much, but suffice it to say that the English words awkwardly placed within the cryptic characters are hinting at some sort of grammatical nightmare.)
我爸爸曾經說我的中文讀寫程度不足，回香港找工作會應付不來。我也覺得我的讀寫仍可以進步，但是看了這些例子後，我相信我的聽講能力還是綽綽有餘。其實，因為我身在海外，我更加會用心講中文，盡量避免中英混淆這個壞習慣。以上這段話就是一個好好的例子。
