“Joe”, 1999—2005
My name is Joe, and I am annoying!
Well not anymore, because patriotism doesn't sell beer these days, so Molson is letting Joe go and returning to what sells beer best: beautiful women.
The male viewer becomes the central character in the spot as other characters speak to him — first his buddies and then various attractive women eager to make his acquaintance.
I just saw one of the ads, and yes, those girls were hot.
The National Post, Globe and Mail, and Toronto Star all have coverage, and if it wasn't in the business section (it is a marketing decision, after all), it'd rank as one of the least useful things put to print in recent memory.
