St. Valentine's Day
Evidently nobody wins today:
Dating guys hate it because they have to fork out ridiculous sums to please their women.
Dating women hate it because the dating guys will always disappoint.
Single people hate it because it rubs in their lack of companionship.
In theory, I should belong to the final category, but I didn't remember the holiday until the middle of the afternoon, so I was sufficiently detached from the whole thing to not care. Heck, given alternate personal life circumstances, I'd probably be the type to actually fall for this holiday and do all the sappy stuff that Hershey's and Hallmark have brainwashed you into doing.
But for this holiday supposedly existing for the sake of the chocolate and greeting card industries, I found the mall to be unexpectedly spartan in St. Valentine's Day decorations. Maybe it's because all the Asian stores were so ridiculously in your face in the Chinese New Year decor that anything less seemed downright pathetic.
I'd blog about current events, but somehow the world moving without me for a week is an appealing concept. Well, at least a few days.
