Speak No Evil
A few days ago, a meningitis outbreak in mainland China took over Chinese-language media headlines out of the blue. Of course, such outbreaks do not happen overnight, but knowledge of a possible epidemic might sprout from apparently nowhere if the government had been trying to suppress information until things went out of hand.
While meningitis is nowhere near as infectious as SARS, the similar attitudes that PRC authorities are taking toward this new menace does not help matters. The time of year, during Chinese New Year, with all the consequent travel, only complicates the problem.
Too tired to write more, but Angry Chinese Blogger has all the information on this new outbreak that any English-language readers would need.
