Political Writer's Block

I've been wondering why I haven't blogged on politics much since I moved the blog. (I also haven't done much on the Shotgun, which is quite embarrassing.) It sort of worries me that I think I'm losing touch. But then I realize that maybe it's not me that losing touch (via Damian Brooks). I mean, you can't compete with some of these people. As Jay Jardine puts it:

Here's the sick joke — those of you who can think things through for yourselves, who value freedom in and of itself, will forever be outbid in this advance auction of stolen goods.

Strangely, though, I've been going through books at a much faster speed than usual. I've already finished Surprise, Security, and the American Experience and Colossus, and I'm now reading Walter Russell Mead's Power, Terror, Peace and War. I think it's the durable aspect of printed text: blogging about something needs to be done within about 48 hours of the event to be up-to-date; things written on paper seem to be relevant for a longer period.

But I still need something to get me back in the zone. Hopefully this weekend's junket at Silver Star will put me in a better place. Oh yah, this implies no blogging from Friday to Sunday. Hopefully I'll have something profound to write by then. That is, if I don't kill myself on the slopes.
